Europe is wide and varied, from the northern most inhabited place in the world, Svalbard, to the birth place of western civilization in the south, Greece. It hosts a surprising multitude of differing cultures, peoples and languages for the relatively small geographical land mass that makes up it's continent, and it's history is rich and fascinating, ranging from Vikings to Celts to the Roman Empire.

It's generally safe to travel to, even solo. Some destinations are expensive, but with planning it can still be visited on a budget. It's easy to get to and travel around in, but it does have some unusual & strict regulations concerning long term travel that you need to be aware of if you want to explore for a significant length of time.
